Where are south suburban divorce cases heard?
A south suburban divorce filed in Cook County is heard at the Bridgeview Courthouse or the Markham Courthouse, two of the Domestic Relations Division's five suburban locations, or at the Richard J. Daley Center in Chicago, the division's main location.
Cook County towns in the Fifth Municipal District (Bridgeview)
The Circuit Court of Cook County lists these municipalities in its Fifth Municipal District: Alsip, Bedford Park, Bridgeview, Burbank, Burr Ridge, Chicago Ridge, Crestwood, Countryside, Evergreen Park, Forest View, Hickory Hills, Hinsdale, Hodgkins, Hometown, Indian Head Park, Justice, La Grange, Lemont, Lyons, McCook, Merrionette Park, Oak Forest, Oak Lawn, Orland Hills, Orland Park, Palos Heights, Palos Hills, Palos Park, Stickney, Summit, Tinley Park, Western Springs, Willow Springs, Woodridge and Worth. The court lists domestic relations cases among the cases also heard at its municipal district courthouses.
Cook County towns in the Sixth Municipal District (Markham)
The court lists these towns in its Sixth Municipal District: Blue Island, Burnham, Calumet City, Calumet Park, Chicago Heights, Country Club Hills, Crete, Dixmoor, Dolton, East Hazel Crest, Flossmoor, Ford Heights, Glenwood, Harvey, Hazel Crest, Homewood, Lansing, Lynwood, Markham, Matteson, Midlothian, Olympia Fields, Park Forest, Phoenix, Posen, Richton Park, Riverdale, Robbins, Sauk Village, South Chicago Heights, South Holland, Steger and Thornton. Blue Island and Midlothian criminal cases are heard in the Fifth District, but the court hears all other cases from those two towns in the Sixth District. The court lists domestic relations cases, domestic violence cases, and paternity and child support among the cases also heard at its municipal district courthouses.
Living in one of these towns does not by itself decide where your case is heard. Your summons and court notices show the assigned courthouse and courtroom, and the Clerk of the Circuit Court can confirm it.
Towns that cross a county line
For Burr Ridge, Hinsdale, Lemont, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Willow Springs and Woodridge in the Fifth District, and Crete in the Sixth, the court marks its jurisdiction as limited to the part of the town inside Cook County. Under 750 ILCS 5/104, a divorce is heard in the county where the petitioner or the respondent lives, so the address of each spouse matters. If one spouse lives in Cook County and the other lives in another county, either county can be a proper venue. If your address is in Will County or DuPage County, see the firm's Will County or DuPage County divorce and family law page.
Residence in Illinois is a separate question. Under 750 ILCS 5/401(a), one spouse must have lived in Illinois, or been stationed here in the armed services, for 90 days before the case began or before the court's finding.

Remote appearances
The court posts Zoom information for each municipal district, including the Fifth Municipal District in Bridgeview and the Sixth Municipal District in Markham. For your Zoom ID and passcode, the court's Remote Court Proceedings page directs you to the Clerk's Office. The court prohibits recording Zoom court proceedings; its Remote Court Proceedings page points to General Administrative Order 2023-03 for details. The firm collects those entries in its Fifth District Zoom information for Bridgeview and Sixth District Zoom information for Markham, and how to prepare for a Zoom court hearing explains what to set up beforehand.
