Family law help for west suburban families
If you or your spouse lives in Oak Park, River Forest, Berwyn, Cicero, Forest Park or another west suburb in Cook County, your divorce may be filed in Cook County. Chicago Family Attorneys LLC represents clients in these cases, including divorce, the allocation of parental responsibilities and parenting time, child support, maintenance, property division, orders of protection connected to a divorce, and enforcement or modification of existing orders.
The firm's office is in Chicago, at 53 W Jackson Blvd, Suite 752. It does not have an office in the west suburbs. Consultations are by phone; a free weekend consultation is available by Zoom. Some court dates may be held in person at the courthouse and others by Zoom, as the court directs.
You can choose full representation or limited scope help with a defined task, and the written agreement identifies the covered work. No lawyer can promise a particular result, and outcomes depend on the facts. For how Cook County cases move from filing to judgment, see the firm's Cook County divorce attorney page.
Where are west suburban divorce cases heard?
A west suburban divorce filed in Cook County may be heard at the Maywood Courthouse, one of the Domestic Relations Division's five suburban locations, or at the Richard J. Daley Center in Chicago, the division's main location; your summons shows which.
Cook County towns in the Fourth Municipal District (Maywood)
The Circuit Court of Cook County lists these municipalities in its Fourth Municipal District, which sits in Maywood: Bellwood, Berkeley, Berwyn, Broadview, Brookfield, Cicero, Elmwood Park, Forest Park, Franklin Park, Hillside, La Grange Park, Maywood, Melrose Park, Northlake, North Riverside, Oak Park, River Forest, River Grove, Riverside, Stone Park and Westchester. The court lists domestic relations cases among the cases also heard at its municipal district courthouses, and orders of protection among the cases the Fourth Municipal District hears.
Living in one of these towns does not by itself decide where your case is heard. Your summons and court notices show the assigned courthouse and courtroom, and the Clerk of the Circuit Court can confirm it.
Nearby towns in other districts or counties
La Grange Park is on the Fourth District list, but the court lists La Grange and Western Springs in its Fifth Municipal District, which sits at the Bridgeview Courthouse; see the firm's south suburbs divorce and family lawyer page for that courthouse. The Fourth District list does not include Elmhurst or Oak Brook. Under 750 ILCS 5/104, a divorce is heard in the county where the petitioner or the respondent lives, so the address of each spouse matters. If one spouse lives in Cook County and the other lives in another county, either county can be a proper venue. If your address is in DuPage County, see the firm's DuPage County divorce and family law page.
Families in Elmhurst and Oak Brook can also read the firm's Downers Grove, Naperville and Elmhurst divorce lawyer page.
Residence in Illinois is a separate question. Under 750 ILCS 5/401(a), one spouse must have been living in Illinois, or stationed here in the armed services, when the case began, and for 90 days before the case began or before the court's finding.

Remote appearances
The court posts Zoom information for each municipal district, including the Fourth Municipal District in Maywood. For your Zoom ID and passcode, the court's Remote Court Proceedings page directs you to the Clerk's Office. The court prohibits recording Zoom court proceedings; its Remote Court Proceedings page points to General Administrative Order 2023-03 for details. The firm's Fourth District Zoom information for Maywood collects those entries, and how to prepare for a Zoom court hearing explains what to set up beforehand.
Divorce, custody and support questions we handle
The firm handles these family law matters for west suburban clients:
- Divorce, agreed or contested, and legal separation.

- Child support and spousal maintenance.
- Property division, including the home and retirement accounts.

If your situation involves more than one of these issues, the consultation can sort out which one comes first.
Fees and representation options
These are the firm's published fees. The ranges shown are not a quote for your matter.

Court filing costs, service costs, evaluation costs and the fees of outside professionals are separate. The client pays them and the firm does not advance them. The written agreement confirms the fee, the covered work and the expenses before you engage the firm. See the family law pricing overview.

It may be the Maywood Courthouse.
